The 80/20 Rule and Consistent, Long-Term Weight Loss
Any diet that restricts you to eating healthy 100% of the time is very likely to fail. In fact, an unrealistic demands like extreme fasting or counting calories will backfire. Moreover, the same is true of exercise programs that require you to live in a gym or invest $1000’s in expensive machines.
The 80/20 rule provides a realistic map to long-term weight loss success. In fact, this rule helps you transition to a happier, healthier you without sacrificing all the foods you love. In fact, you can eat the foods you crave 20% of the time and still lose weight. The other 80% of the time, however, you really need to eat healthy meals like the one in the recipe above.
How Metabolic Hormones Are Sabotaging Your Weight Loss Efforts
To lose belly fat and keep it off, you need your metabolic hormones to function properly. Unfortunately, years of unhealthy eating wreaks havoc on our metabolic hormones. As metabolic hormones become unbalanced, it leads to a number of problems for anyone trying to shed belly fat, including:
- Cravings Increase in Both Intensity and Frequency
- We Eat More and More to Feel Satiated Even Though We Don’t Need the Food
- Metabolism Rate Slows so We Burn Fewer Calories at Rest
Leptin Resistance Leads to Putting on More and More Fat
All of the problems listed above are caused by a condition known as leptin resistance. When this occurs, the brain doesn’t detect leptin and believes your body’s energy reserves are critically low. When this happens, the 3 issues listed above are triggered and losing belly fat becomes all but impossible.
Leptin is stored in your fat cells. The greater your fat reserves, the more leptin the body produces. Normally, this causes your brain to have fewer cravings, increase metabolism rate, and eat less food.
Researchers now believe there is a “tipping point”. When leptin levels become too high, the brain no longer detects them accurately. At this point, you have leptin resistance and the brain thinks your body is starving. Thus, a vicious cycle of eating more adds even more fat and losing weight becomes impossible.
Lower Leptin Levels Naturally to Reverse Leptin Resistance
To consistently lose belly fat, reversing leptin resistance is vital. Essentially you must reduce the levels of leptin in your body. So, burning fat and increasing metabolism rate are key.
Lifting weights helps boost your metabolism rate naturally. Specifically, increasing lean muscle mass burns more calories at rest. Muscle cells naturally burn more calories than fat cells when your body is at rest. So, the greater your lean muscle mass, the higher your metabolism rate.
You don’t need to live at the gym. Simply using dumbbells a few times each week greatly helps build muscle and increase metabolism rate. You should also add in some aerobic exercise as well. Even brisk walking two or three times a week helps improve cardiovascular health, burn calories, and reduce leptin levels.
Eat More High Protein Meals
This delicious coleslaw and chicken recipe is perfect for helping you burn fat naturally. First, protein is a natural appetite suppressant and also helps control cravings. Protein is unique in that affects hormones that control satiation in a positive way to naturally reduce caloric intake. Some studies show that a diet high in protein leads to naturally consuming 400 fewer calories per day. And the great news: You don’t need to starve yourself in the process.
Plus, protein helps boost metabolism rate. The body can’t break protein down as easily as fats or carbs. This leads you to burn up to an extra 100 calories per day simply consuming meals that are high in protein. Some examples of foods that are great to substitute for fats or carbs include:
Any Kind of Fish
Try to aim for getting 30% or more of your calories each day for best results and to burn more fat naturally.
Lose Belly Fat Faster with Diet Supplements
To kick your fat burning into high gear, also use diet supplements. Specifically, you want fat burners that target your metabolic hormones, especially leptin. The right supplement dramatically reduces the time it takes to reverse leptin resistance. With diet and exercise alone, the process can take several agonizing months. But, with a fat burning supplement that targets leptin, the process only takes a few weeks.
Once leptin resistance has been reversed, your cravings disappear and energy levels significantly increase. Plus, your portion sizes gradually reduce as you need to eat less to feel satiated. Once leptin is detected accurately by your brain again, it becomes easy to lose belly fat and reach your target weight.
